Job description
We are seeking for an experienced Registered Manager for a Nursing Home for young disabled adults in Preston, Lancashire. The candidate should have a nursing qualification and at least two years of experience as a Manager. Knowledge of the current and proposed legislation, requirements, guidelines and best practice is essential. Also, the ability to manage effectively a multi-disciplinary team of staff and knowledge of all financial elements of running a successful business unit is desirable.
Main Purpose
Professionals, individuals, families and friends are often looking for residential or nursing homes to take care of young people unable to support themselves in the community due to their complex needs and deteriorating health conditions. One of the first members of staff that such people meet is the nursing home manager. As well as meeting with families, the manager also deals with social care, healthcare professionals and CQC inspectors. One of this position’s most important responsibilities is ensuring all health and safety regulations are met. In addition, the nursing home manager should ensure that clients are comfortable and well looked after. Leadership is another key quality required by the manager. The manager will need to hire and train staff and manage the nursing teams in the home. They will also need to carry out handover meetings daily.
Most people enter the profession after a period of time working as a nurse and nursing qualifications are essential. In addition, other qualifications in administration or management are most helpful. The manager has overall responsibility for the successful running of the nursing home, in line with the requirements of our regulatory bodies and company policies and procedures. To promote and ensure high standards of care and support for people who use our services. Managing the service as a financially profitable and viable business that has a future for the people who use our services.

Quality
1. Ensure that staff are providing excellent support standards to the people who use the service, in line with regulatory and internal quality standards.
2. Ensure that all person-centred care plans are reviewed, evaluated and updated regularly.
3. Ensure that all staff have completed all mandatory training and any training specific to the service.
4. Ensure the service meets all legal and statutory requirements including, but not limited to, those related to fire regulations, health and safety at work, licensing, weights and measures, trading standards, employment, current legislation and all appropriate statutory notices displayed. Maintain an excellent standard of safeguarding practice and awareness throughout the service and staff team.
5. Ensure the service has a positive reputation and good relationships with all stakeholders, including people in the local community, families, and friends who use our service and potential purchasers.
6. Ensure excellent knowledge of current policies, procedures and governance affecting the service and the company.
7. Ensure that all nursing staff maintain their registration and that continuing professional development is maintained in meeting individual service users’ physical needs.

Knowledge & Skills
• Qualified Nurse, registered with the UK’s NMC.
• An NVQ Level 4 LMCS training or equivalent management qualification is essential or be willing to work towards this qualification.
• Knowledge of current and proposed legislation and requirements, guidelines and best practice. Ability to manage effectively a multi-disciplinary team of staff.
• Working knowledge of all financial elements of running a successful business unit.
